Follow up weather report for the Gisborne Garagiste Wine Company

As usual, in Gisborne we were meant to get days of rain, well from the picture below it looks like only one day. This sounds strange, but after torrential rain became 1 minute of rain yesterday, the meteorological office seem to have no idea. The night temperature is still nice and high for improving flavour profiles though.

Change of Gisborne Garagiste Wine Company 2012 Wine label

When we first looked at the type of label that we liked we choose the paper for duel purposes. To advertise the wine in the bottle as well if you spilt your wine you could use the label to soak it up. Well the labels also liked to fall off, so the new Chardonnay 2012 label has been printed and applied by hand. As you can see the wine was hand labelled by angels.

Why is Gisborne's weather so special for producing consistant favoursome grapes/Wine?

Here is a snip of the coming weather prediction for Gisborne. Different to other areas, Gisborne overnight temperatures rarely drops below 10°C from now until harvest. The vines do not slow down metabolising overnight as a result which would happen if temperatures drop below 10°C. Gisborne has been know to produce aromatically flavoursome wines that have lower sugar levels so hence lower alcohol levels. Better for you!

American beer

They say that some of the best wine has been made over a few beers.  Well certainly had an amazing beer tasting last night with a huge range of American beer and a couple from NZ thrown in the mix.

Vérité Winery

Today I was given a tour around the Vérité Winery by the Winemaker Pierre Seillan. They had a new Pellenc optical fruit sorter that was processing 10 Tons of fruit an hour. It was also great hear some of the techniques that he use in handling the grapevines and making the wine. The winery and Pierre have had a fantastic run of success with their wines with numerous 100 point scores from Robert Parker.

Unbelievably we, The Gisborne Garagiste Wine Company, have just sold 12% of our stock that we have available in one week. A nice problem.
